Torsion Springs
Torsion springs are available in a variety of materials, the most common being carbon steel or stainless steel, depending on the environment into which the springs are entering. Both torsion and double torsion springs are made to achieve the best possible results with a variety of leg positions and tips depending upon application. Wire size for torsion springs ranges from 0.25 mm (0.010″) up to 19 mm (0.750″). Wire size for double torsion’s ranges from 0.25 mm (0.010″) up to 6 mm (0.236″). We have facilities for both hand-made and automated spring manufacture and can be left or right handed depending on application
Typical uses for torsion springs include making it easier to open and close hatches and doors. If you’ve got a paper hole punch on your desk chances are it contains a torsion spring to spring it back open. Garage doors often rely upon torsion springs to help them open and close.
Smaller examples include trays for CD’s & DVD’s which often rely upon torsion springs to work.
