Barrel Compression Springs
Barrel springs are available in a variety of materials, the most common being carbon steel or stainless steel, depending on the environment into which the spring is entering. Ends can be left open or closed. Ends can be ground depending upon application. Wire size from 0.25 mm (0.010″) up to 12.70 mm (0.500″). We have facilities for both hand-made and automated spring manufacture.
Barrel Springs take their name from the fact that the compression springs have a larger diameter in the middle and a smaller diameter at each end. Also referred to as convex springs, the barrel shape of the spring makes it less likely to bend while under load. This allows these compression springs to be manufactured longer than constant coil springs with less concern for warping. An ideal solution where the spring cannot be supported. We can close then end coils of the barrel shaped compression spring in order to ensure the spring remains centered when supported over a rod.:-
